Periodization Quick Tip # 4: Endurance athletes who are performing on a flat surface might periodize the inclination of surface from 1: Flat and moderate inclines, 2: Flat and higher incline, 3: Flat. Each phase includes a different proportion of flat and incline training.

I am exploring the science based rules of periodization of surface, inclination and exercise selection in "Beyond Functional Training - Maximizing The TRansfer of Training Effects Through Science Based Exercise Selection" (1.4 nsca cec's).
