Personal Training Program Manager Position

The Personal Training (PT) Program Manager develops strategies and tactics and influences a cross-functional team to optimally serve the NSCA’s personal trainer members though superior content, career development resources, and expansion of NSCA’s brand preference among leaders in the personal trainer community. The PT Program Manager reports directly to the Education Director and will develop and execute strategic, tactical and business plans to increase NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) brand recognition and membership, a comprehensive Personal Training program including events, products, educational content, and career opportunities. The PT Manager will conduct staff and self-evaluations, fiscal management of the PT Education Program, and assist in various projects. The PT Program Manager must also be able to coordinate and contribute to the development of foundational principles and current research-based topics and information delivered through various mediums.

Specific Responsibilities:

Duties to include, but not be exclusive to the following: 

  • Develop and execute strategic, tactical and business plans, in conjunction with the Education Director, to establish NSCA as the brand sought by Personal Trainers for certification. 
  • Develop and execute strategic, tactical and business plans, in conjunction with the Education Director, to expand the value of the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer program to existing and future Personal Trainers and associated groups.
  • Develop metrics/measure results to monitor effectiveness of the NSCA-CPT Program strategic, tactical and business plans.
  • Identify potential and actual marketing needs/initiatives for NSCA-CPT members to increase employment and career growth opportunities.
  • Develop and execute plans which enhance the growth of NSCA-CPT membership.
  • Develop and grow partnerships with corporate/business entities representing/employing personal trainers to increase measureable NSCA-CPT employment and career growth opportunities.
  • Develop and cooperate with sponsorship development for all PT projects.
  • Conducting return on investment analysis for all PT projects, programs and teams trained.
  • Develop PT budget preparation and accountability for resource management.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to increase ‘education’ content to include but not limited to manuals, publications, videos, blog and social media posts, and NSCA.com content.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to increase the development and activity of the NSCA-CPT program with social media/social community access/forums.
  • Develop and support NSCA-CPT specific conferences/seminars to enhance the education, knowledge, applied skills and career networking opportunities for members.
  • Present, coach, and demonstrate strength and conditioning, personal training and fitness concepts at NSCA seminars, symposia, conferences, and special events as required.
  • Create and deliver PowerPoint presentations on PT topics including, but not limited to, Assessment, Exercise Sciences, Program Design, Nutrition, Flexibility, Business and PT Management.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends.
  • Travel as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Education Director.

General education duties to include, but not be exclusive to the following:

  • Answer general Education phone calls and emails for customer service purposes.
  • Presenting, instructing and assisting with NSCA Education Department at events and programs.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Minimum 3 years personal training experience
  • Experience presenting to large groups
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze information 
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and assist in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills through all mediums
  • Works well and communicates effectively with staff and member volunteers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Successful applicant must become an NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) within 6 months of hire if not already certified by the NSCA
  • Current NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) credential
  • Experience as a manger (or higher) in a fitness/personal training facility
  • Masters’ in Exercise Science or related field
  • Military or Public Service experience
