NSCA Involvement

  • NSCA Board of Directors Member, 2006 – 2009
  • Presenter, Public Liaison, and Industry Representative for NSCA Symposia and Conferences, 2000 – 2009

1. Why do you want to serve on the Nomination Committee?

To offer my experience and devotion to the best interest of the NSCA in the process determining qualified nominees for elected positions of leadership.

2. What is your understanding of the organizational structure of the NSCA?

The Board of Directors act as visionary leaders that represent the constituencies of the organization and who carry out fiduciary responsibilities. The NSCA staff carry out the operations and functions of the NSCA. The committees and special interest groups are fueled by member volunteers that offer time, service and experience in specific areas of the organization that support the mission of the NSCA.

3. One of the roles of the Nomination Committee is to find qualified candidates for Board of Director positions. How would you go about seeking or identifying candidates who would be representative of the diverse population of our membership, and consistent with the NSCA mission statement?

By staying actively involved in the organization and always broadening my network I would identify contributing members who have the passion, experience and capacity to serve at the highest leadership position in the organization. Next I would follow all procedures to ensure that the candidates are qualified as well as prepared for the time, obligation, and responsibility of serving the organization in this capacity. All of these would be carried out without bias and in the best interest of the organization.
