DON'T MISS OUR KEYNOTE PRESENTERS

Rulon Gardner

Rulon Gardner is perhaps most well known for his defeat of Alexander Karelin in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Karelin had been undefeated for thirteen years prior to his loss in the gold medal match to Gardner. Gardner continued to win the U.S. Olympic trials for his weight class and then to compete in the 2004 Summer Olympics. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, he won the bronze medal and left his shoes on the mat as the traditional symbol of retirement from competitive wrestling.

Gardner has since begun competing in mixed martial arts and in 2005 he became the host for a professional wrestling league called Real Pro Wrestling. Aside from his Olympic medals, his achievements are numerous and inspiring. Join us as the NSCA welcomes Rulon Gardner to share his lifetime triumphs through his motivational presentation during the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.

Mike Flynt

Mike Flynt, Known as the “Grid Iron Grandpa,” Mike Flynt captured national attention in 2007 when he returned to Division III football for Sul Ross State in Texas playing line-backer approaching the age of 60. Flynt learned that he had 1 year of eligibility left and so enrolled in a master's program.

In addition to being one of the founding members of the NSCA in 1976, Flynt spent most of his career as a strength and conditioning coach with Nebraska, Oregon and Texas A&M. He is also the inventor of the Powerbase training system and is committed to physical fitness. Join us as Flynt will be giving an inspirational message about perseverance at the Awards Reception on Friday, July 11th at 6:30 p.m.
