Dr. Jay Hoffman holds the rank of full professor in the Department of Sport and Fitness at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Hoffman is also a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Hoffman was elected as President of the National Strength and Conditioning Association in July of 2009. Dr. Hoffman holds a unique perspective in his sport science background. Prior to his academic career he signed free agent contracts with the NY Jets and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL and the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL. Recent honors and awards bestowed upon Dr. Hoffman include: 2007 Outstanding Sport Scientist of the Year from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), 2005 Outstanding Kinesiology Professional Award from the Neag School of Education Alumni Society of the University of Connecticut, 2003 Educator of the Year NSCA, and 2003 Neag School of Education Outstanding Alumni Research Award (University of Connecticut). Dr. Hoffman is also the sports science advisor to Major League Baseball Strength Coaches and is assisting them in developing a steroid education program for baseball. Dr. Hoffman’s primary area of study is in sports supplementation and training paradigms. Dr. Hoffman has published more than 150 articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals. His books Physiological Aspects of Sport Training and Performance and Norms for Fitness, Performance, and Health were published by Human Kinetics. A Practical Guide to Designing Resistance Training Programs and Total Fitness for Baseball were published by Coaches Choice. Further sharing his research and findings, Dr. Hoffman has lectured at more than 250 national and international conferences and meetings.

Steven J. Fleck, Ph.D. is presently the Chair, Sport Science Department, The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly the Program Director of the Physical Conditioning Program for the U.S. Olympic Committee. Dr. Fleck's research interests include physiological adaptations to resistance training and the application of research findings to optimize resistance training program design. His research interests are not limited to physiological adaptations and the training of athletes, but also include training of the general population and individuals with various diseases, such as cancer and cystic fibrous. During his career Dr. Fleck has designed programs for celebrities interested in general health and fitness, as well as Olympic athletes in a wide variety of sports. He has authored numerous peer reviewed research articles as well as numerous lay articles in the area of resistance training. Dr. Fleck has also authored several books concerning resistance training including: Designing Resistance Training Programs, Strength Training for Young Athletes, and Optimizing Strength Training: Designing Nonlinear Periodization Workouts. All of these books have been translated into several languages. His most recent book is an undergraduate text Exercise Physiology Integrating Theory and Application. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. For his work he has been honored by receiving both the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Sports Scientist of the Year Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award of that organization.

Dr. Jill Bush holds an Associate Professor position at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, and Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Houston. She received her doctoral degree from Penn State University. Her current research examines nutrient and hormonal effects on exercise testing and performance in youth and adults.

Chat Williams is the Supervisor for Norman Regional Health Club. He currently sits on the National Strength and Conditioning Association Board of Directors and is the past NSCA State Director Committee Chair, Midwest Regional Coordinator and State Director of Oklahoma (2004 State Director of the Year). He also served on the NSCA Personal Trainer SIG Executive Council. He is the author of multiple training DVD's including Training and Program Design with the BOSU Balance Trainer, Weekend Warrior: Training the Recreational Athlete, and co-author of 3-D Legs. His company Oklahoma Strength and Conditioning Productions offers personal training services, sports performance for youth, metabolic testing, and educational conferences and seminars for strength and conditioning professionals.

Dr. David Szymanski is an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory, and the Head Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coach at Louisiana Tech University. He formerly was the Sports Performance Director for Velocity Sports Performance-Tulsa. Prior to that, Dr. Szymanski was the Exercise Physiologist for the Auburn University Baseball team for five years and the Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach for two years. Before attending Auburn University, where he earned a doctorate in exercise physiology, Dr. Szymanski was the Assistant Baseball Coach and Weight Room Director at Texas Lutheran University for five years. His primary research has focused on ways to improve baseball and softball performance.

Dr. Bill Holcomb is a certified and licensed athletic trainer, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction, as well as a Fellow in the NSCA. He has served as a professor of sports medicine and athletic training for the last 20 years. Dr. Holcomb is an active member of the NATA and served as the liaison between the NSCA and NATA from 1997-2006. His primary teaching and research emphasis is rehabilitation and reconditioning following athletic injuries.

Jon Jost, in his 10th year at Florida State University, serves as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Athletic Department. In addition to his responsibilities within the FSU athletic department, Jost also teaches two classes in the Sports Sciences Masters program and serves on the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine Advisory Board. He has been a NSCA, CSCS member since 1991. His NSCA volunteer service includes: the scholarship committee, Chairman of the College Strength Coaches SIG, and the Coaches Committee. During his career Jost has had the privilege to train over 40 NFL draft picks, 10 Olympians, appeared in 11 bowl games, and has been a member of 10 conference Championship Teams. Jost earned a master’s degree in Education Administration with an emphasis in Athletic Administration from Nebraska in 1994 and a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in strength and conditioning from Nebraska in 1990.

Dr. Todd Miller is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services in Washington DC, where he is responsible for the development and oversight of the Master's Degree concentration in Strength and Conditioning. He has degrees in Exercise Physiology from Penn State and Texas A&M, and currently studies the role of interactive video gaming as a means of increasing physical activity in children.

Dr. Rodney Gaines is currently employed by Virginia State University and holds full-time positions both as an Associate Professor and Head Strength and Conditioning coach. Dr. Gaines received his MS in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and finished his PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in December 2001 in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in Tests and Measurement in Health Promotion. Dr. Gaines served as the NSCA Virginia State Director from 2003 – 2009, and recently served one year as the NSCA Mid-Atlantic Coordinator. Dr. Gaines was the first ever full-time strength and conditioning coach at Division I Norfolk State University (2002 – 2007), and in August 2009 he started the first ever program at Division II Virginia State University (2009 – present). Dr. Gaines also serves on the Virginia Physical Education Recreation and Dance Board of Directors as Past Vice-President of the General Division and has a three-year appointment on the organization’s Strategic Planning Committee (2010 – 2013). Dr. Gaines is the owner of Muscle Gaines Studio and Muscle Gaines Consulting, and he is a certification specialist and CEU provider for the NSCA, ACSM, and AFAA. He has published articles and abstracts in the Vahperd and NSCA journals, and writes newsletters for strength coaches and personal trainers. Dr. Gaines has published two books, and his first book was self-published called, “Leadership Gaines.” He recently finished his second book in January 2010, and was published by Coaches Choice: 101 Spiritual Lessons for Coaches and Athletes.

Dr. Michael Ma is a full professor in the College of Life Sciences of the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interest is in the area of insect endocrinology and neurobiology. Dr. Ma has always possessed a great passion for international scientific policy issues. He recently completed a National Academy of Sciences project funded by the Gates Foundation on the future agriculture biotechnologies that would solve world food problems. In the past 10 years, Dr. Ma represented University of Maryland on building both academic and cultural relations with major institutions in China.
