Qualifications for Strength and Conditioning Coaches

• The RSCC distinction requires current NSCA Membership.
• The individual must have achieved and maintained the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®) certification.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field to strength and conditioning such as the "Scientific Foundations" domain of the CSCS® examination content description. A copy of your undergraduate transcript must be submitted with the application.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required. Provide a photocopy of a current CPR certification.
• Employment as a full-time strength and conditioning coach for two (2) or more years at a college or university or two (2) years as a graduate assistant in strength and conditioning at an institute recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Graduate Education Recognition Program.
• Affirmation signature from an immediate supervisor is required. The NSCA will conduct a formalized assessment of the candidate’s practical and applied employment experience. (By signing the RSCC application, the supervisor acknowledges that the candidate has demonstrated and conducted sport-specific testing sessions, designed and implemented safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and has the experience to be recognized with the Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach distinction.
• The RSCC CEU requirements are currently under review.
• The RSCC,*D distinction has the same requirements as RSCC except ten or more years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach are required.
• The Emeritus distinction (RSCC,*E) has the same requirements as RSCC except twenty years or more of experience as a strength and conditioning coach are required and there is no fee.
