What information does the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) collect from its members and web site visitors (www.nsca.com), and how is it used?
NSCA collects personal identifying information such as your name or email address when you apply for membership, register for a meeting or program, or fill out a survey, and when you complete subscription registration for sites or services requiring such information. NSCA also collects contact and billing information including credit card number and expiration date from visitors who wish to pay for membership, program or meeting registration, or merchandise.
NSCA may use the information in the aggregate for marketing and promotional purposes. NSCA may share personal identifying and contact information with its affiliates. NSCA never shares phone numbers or email addresses with any unaffiliated third party.
NSCA may log web site visitors’ IP addresses for the collection of aggregate information about site visitors and their interests. NSCA does not link these IP addresses to personal identifying information such as a visitor’s name and/or e-mail address.
What are cookies and how are they used?
Does NSCA share the information it collects with others?
NSCA does offer member mailing lists to reputable companies who offer potentially useful, industry related, material and services for NSCA members. All materials are subjected to a strict screening process. Email addresses and phone numbers may be provided to selected affiliates with whom NSCA has a mutual marketing agreement. Under no circumstances are email lists made available to known spammers, get-rich-quick sites, or pornographic sites.
NSCA provides opportunities for members and web site visitors to opt-in to receive newsletters and updates. If a member or web site visitor wishes to subscribe to one of these services, we ask for contact information such as name and email address. Members and web site visitors can opt-out of these services at any time by contacting NSCA at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 800-815-6826. Members and web site visitors can also opt-out by following the instructions included in each email.
If you wish to opt out of Google Analytics Advertising features that NSCA has implemented on our site, please view opt-out options. In addition, there are a number of other ways to opt-out of Google Tracking features including Ads Settings, Ads Settings for mobile apps, or any other available means (for example, NAI's consumer opt-out).
How can I make changes to my personal information?
Members of the association can update their personal information by clicking on the link “Update Member Info” on our home page and then filling out the form. Registered customers may update their personal information by logging into the checkout portion of our online store, clicking update, and making modifications on the form. For all other changes, please contact NSCA at email@example.com.
What else should you know about your privacy?
Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online―such as a user name or e-mail address in a chat or bulletin board area, for example―you should be aware that the information provided can be collected and used by others. In addition, the NSCA sites contain links to other sites not owned or operated NSCA. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these sites.
In some cases users may link or are referred to third party sites from NSCA. User information collected on these third party sites may be shared with NSCA in aggregate form for internal tracking purposes and is not linked to any personal information.
NSCA has enabled "Google Display Network Impression Reporting." This allows Google Analytics to collect data about our traffic via Google advertising cookies and anonymous identifiers, in addition to data collected through a standard Google Analytics implementation.
What security procedures are in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?
All Web-based transactions requiring a credit card number take place through a secured, encrypted connection. Credit card numbers are only stored on our site until your order is processed (normally the next business day). Once your order is processed, your credit card number is deleted and no longer available.
Member data such as contact information, email address and full name are stored in a database that is accessible only to staff members on-site.
What about children?
Children 18 years of age or under should not submit any information to NSCA without their parent’s or guardian’s consent. NSCA does not monitor the age of its audience.
If NSCA plans to use information collected from users in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will directly contact users to obtain written or active email consent prior to using their personal information
