National Strength and Conditioning Association Announce 2018 TSAC Awards

Colorado Springs, CO – Strength and conditioning and tactical professionals from across the nation will converge on the NSCA’s TSAC Annual Training April 2-5, 2018 in Norfolk, VA to discover cutting-edge research and practical applications in strength and conditioning, presented by the industry’s most elite and respected experts.

One of the many exciting events that will be held during the conference is the Award Ceremonies where distinctive honors are given to individuals for outstanding achievement. During the Opening Ceremony, the NSCA recognizes award winners in two categories, facilitator and practitioner, with winners selected by a volunteer committee, the NSCA’s TSAC Task Force, who determine the winner based on their contributions to the NSCA, their community, and the profession.

Accepting the TSAC Facilitator of the Year Award is MAJ Karen Daigle, MS, RD, CSCS, TSAC-F. Daigle currently serves as a Clinical Operations Staff Officer at U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, NC.  She previously worked as co-manager and performance dietitian for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command’s Tactical Human Optimization, Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconditioning (THOR3) program, which is now part of the U.S. Special Operations Command’s Human Performance Program.

Prior to returning to the military after a break in service, Daigle worked as a sport physiologist and dietitian for the U.S. Olympic Committee.  During her 20 years of military service, she has served as an enlisted aircrew member in the U.S. Navy, as an aircraft maintenance technician in the Louisiana Air National Guard, and now as a medical specialist corps officer in the U.S. Army.

She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator, Registered Dietitian, and Certified Specialist in Sport Dietetics.  Daigle received her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Louisiana State University and her master’s degrees in Movement Science and Food and Nutrition from Florida State University.  Her primary area of focus is human performance optimization related to metabolism, physiology, and program management.

Accepting the TSAC Practitioner of the Year Award is John Hofman, MS, CSCS,*D, TSAC-F,*D. Coach Hofman is one of leading experts in the field of Firefighter Health and Wellness and currently serves as the Tactical Strength & Conditioning Specialist at Southern California University Health System.

Prior to joining SCU, Coach Hofman spent 10 years as the strength and conditioning coach for the Sacramento Fire Department, where he developed and implemented their Health, Wellness, & Injury prevention program, coordinated the department’s medical and fitness assessments, oversaw recruit fitness training, pre-employment medical and fitness evaluations and assisted with the department’s 20-certified Peer Fitness Trainers.
