Amy Thompson is the National Director of Personal Training Services at Wellbridge, a Denver-based company. She works hands-on with 19 personal training managers and over 350 personal trainers. In her role, she is involved in all club operations but primarily on how they integrate and retain members through personal training, small group programming, and nutrition services. She is a seasoned business executive and is highly respected in the fitness and franchise industries. For over 20 years, she has worked in commercial clubs as Fitness Manager, Sports Director, General Manager, and then National Personal Training Director. Under Thompsons leadership, these clubs offered some of the most sought-after internship programs for fitness professionals in the country, and built the Business Building System that Wellbridge uses to integrate personal trainers successfully. She also launched the inaugural season of the National Womens Basketball League (NWBL) and served as General Manager for the San Diego Waves team for three years. She is passionate about furthering the professionalism and expertise for personal trainers and providing opportunities for development and career advancement. She has been a presenter and author for franchise and fitness over the last two decades, lecturing on topics of leadership, management, and health. She currently serves as the Program Director Committee Chair for IDEA, and is an Industry Advisory Panelist for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and was the Co-Chair for the San Diego Womens Franchise Network Chapter through the International Franchising Association (IFA). Thompson earned a Bachelors degree in Physical and Health Education from George Mason University and multiple national certifications in strength and conditioning and lifestyle weight management. She was a two-sport collegiate and semi-professional athlete, which naturally led her to a career as a fitness professional and health educator.
