Captain Tony Soika has a unique background in both the military and strength and conditioning settings. He is currently in his second tour as a company commander, this time overseeing the headquarters company at Fort Jackson, South Carolina (the army’s largest training installation). Before his nomination to this assignment, he commanded a company of 241 trainees for a year. In his military career, he has been on three combat deployments, was at the World Trade Center on 9/11, and was selected by name to serve at the U.S. Army Physical Fitness School where he worked on redesigning the Army Physical Fitness Test and manual. He has served as a strength coach in Division I athletics, and trained athletes at every level from high school to the national Football League (NFL) and National Basketball League (NBA). He currently serves on the Editorial Review Panel for the TSAC Report. He will be assisted by First Sergeant Brian Hughes, a senior infantry non-commissioned officer (NCO) who is currently completing his Master’s degree in Kinesiology.
