Shawn M. Arent, PhD, CSCS*D, FISSN, FACSM is Professor and Chair of the Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina. He is also the Director of the UofSC Sport Science Lab. His research focuses on the relationship between training, nutrition, and stress and the implications for health, performance, and recovery. He was named the 2017 William J. Kraemer Outstanding Sport Scientist of the Year by NSCA. He is a Fellow in ACSM, ISSN, and NAK and is the immediate Past-President of ISSN. Additionally, he has worked with teams in the NHL, MLB, the US Soccer Federation, and a number of high-level university sports
