Jamie Ness first discovered an interest in altitude training in a college course in which he took part in a live high/train low plus train high training for a short period before his upcoming track season. Since that time, Ness has coached cross country and track and field for seven years, including four at the collegiate level. He teaches in Eastern Kentucky Universitys Exercise and Sports Science program. Ness holds a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky.
