James Henley is a PhD student and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion at the University of Kentucky, focusing on tactical research in the First Responder Research Lab. He previously served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Kennesaw State University during his masters program. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University, where he conducted research on agreement between methods for describing the intensity of high-intensity functional training workouts. He is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP). He specializes in firefighter performance, workload optimization, and physiological demands. As a former United States Air Force Aircraft Rescue Firefighter and Army Combat Engineer, he integrates operational experience to enhance first responder safety and readiness.
