Whitney Leyva-Camberos is the Head Sports Performance Coach at Fresno Pacific University, where she oversees the development of 17 NCAA programs with a service-based, athlete-centered approach. Since joining FPU in 2020, she has elevated the universitys performance training programs by blending science, innovation, and mentorship. Before Fresno Pacific, Leyva-Camberos spent three years coaching with Cal State Fullertons Cheer and nationally ranked Dance Team. A former Olympic weightlifting competitor, she brings firsthand athletic experience to her work and specializes in developing resilient, well-rounded athletes. She currently serves as the Southwest Regional Coordinator for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), previously holding the position of Southern California Director. In these roles, she supports the professional development of coaches across the region through conference planning and community leadership. An educator since 2016, Leyva-Camberos has taught at the university level, reviewed multiple strength and conditioning publications, and authored two of her own. Her commitment to advancing the profession was recognized with a proclamation from the City of Fresno, officially honoring September 17 as Strength and Conditioning Day. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as well as a Masters degree from Cal State Fullerton, and continues to lead with a mission to be the coach she never had building strong minds, bodies, and futures through performance.
