In a sport like football (soccer), training is practice and practice is training. From developing athletes to professional athletes, physical development time and buy-in is the limiting factor.
The development of youth athletes involves reaching a balance between multilateral development and specialized training. Our goal in this presentation is to identify the starting point to introducing a physical development model for young football players through the foundational, developmental and performance phases.
We will learn how to manage time poor environments, manage player engagement and manage player orientation. For our performance stage, leading into a professional career, we will identify the physical demands professional players undergo so we can explore how to best develop our players for the future.
