NSCA RENEWS SPORT PARTNERSHIP WITH PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY PERFORMANCE ORGANIZATION (PHPO)

May 15, 2026

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has renewed its sport partnership with the Professional Hockey Performance Organization (PHPO). Together, the NSCA and PHPO support shared standards, education, and professional connection across hockey performance.

Formerly the Strength and Conditioning Association of Professional Hockey (SCAPH), PHPO transitioned in 2025 to support the broader needs of the hockey performance ecosystem. The organization now serves directors, strength and conditioning coaches, sport scientists, dietitians, and professionals across multiple settings.

Through the renewed partnership, PHPO is recognized as an NSCA Official Sport Partner, Official Ice Hockey Partner, and Official Partner of the NSCA Ice Hockey Special Interest Group (SIG).

“The NSCA is committed to upholding the highest standards for the strength and conditioning and sport science professions,” says Eric McMahon, NSCA Coaching and Sport Science Program Manager. “It’s a privilege to partner with PHPO as they support the development of exceptional coaches and professionals across the sport of ice hockey.”

“At PHPO, we are committed to advancing hockey-specific strength and conditioning at the highest level,” says Matt Price, President of PHPO. “We greatly value our strong alignment with the NSCA in providing high-quality education and certification, which plays a vital role in improving athletic performance, health, and safety for hockey players.”

The NSCA also invites professionals interested in hockey-specific strength and conditioning to join the NSCA Ice Hockey Special Interest Group to connect with peers and exchange ideas that support safe, effective training.
