Who is the NSCA?

Founded in 1978, the National Strength and Conditioning Association® (NSCA) is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit dedicated to advancing science and education in the field.

Our Mission

As the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning, the NSCA disseminates research-based knowledge and its practical application to elevate athletic performance and fitness for all people.

Our Vision

We believe everyone, including athletes, clients, coaches, and trainers, benefits from cutting-edge research and education. The NSCA exists to empower the public and professionals across the strength and conditioning spectrum with evidence-based information to safely and effectively enhance health and performance.

We pursue our vision by providing free resources and information on fitness-related science. Furthermore, the NSCA seeks to solidify strength and conditioning standards by offering comprehensive certifications, continuing education, five peer-reviewed research publications, and philanthropic initiatives through the NSCA Foundation.

We Are Not for Profit

The NSCA is a charitable and educational organization recognized as being exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Our PEople

The NSCA community is composed of more than 60,000 Members and Certified Professionals throughout the world who further best practices as researchers, educators, strength and conditioning coaches, performance and sport scientists, personal trainers, tactical professionals, and other exercise science-related roles.

We’re powered by a dedicated staff of 50+ employees who provide essential support for education, certification, and other services. Additionally, we have over 600 volunteer leaders who serve on our committees and Board of Directors, organize local educational events, facilitate online forums, and more.

The NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health, and fitness industries. Our initiatives are governed by a board of nine directors, managed by an executive director, and carried out by headquarter staff and volunteers.
