National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Announces New Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student and Professional Development Scholarship

Colorado Springs, CO – The NSCA Foundation, in conjunction with the NSCA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, are excited to announce the launch of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student & Professional Development Scholarship. The NSCA Foundation is committed to building and providing diverse, equitable, and inclusive opportunities for members of the NSCA and want to invest in their journey. The Foundation recognizes that progress happens when everyone has equitable access to resources – which this scholarship aims to provide for NSCA members.

"The NSCA Foundation is excited to collaborate with the NSCA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee in providing dedicated funding to our socially marginalized members,” said NSCA Foundation President Nicole Dabbs, PhD, FNSCA. “This funding provides these members the opportunity to attend a local NSCA conference within their region. This is one step out of many that will begin to bring more equity to our members.”

The scholarship is designed to support individuals from socially marginalized groups (i.e., ethnic/racial minorities, LGBTQIA+ community, or who have a documented disability) and will cover the registration fees for an NSCA State, Provincial, or Regional Conference (virtual or in person). This year, the Foundation will award scholarships to a total of 10 recipients.

"It is encouraging that a shared commitment has resulted in the launch of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Student & Professional Development Scholarship,” said Dr. Benjamin Wax, Chair of the NSCA DEI Committee. “This program is the result of the dedicated efforts of the NSCA Foundation and DEI Committee with the full support of the NSCA Organization to bring further value to our underrepresented members.”
