The Boyd Epley Award honors individuals who exhibit historical impact, achievements, and dedication to the NSCA over the course of their career. The Board of Directors carefully deliberates to select the recipient of the Boyd Epley Award, as it is the most prestigious award a Member of the NSCA can receive.

Each NSCA SIG has an executive council composed of a chair and at least two members. Applications are accepted from October 1 to December or January 15 annually. Check back during the application window for information on open positions.

Hear from the 2023 NSCA Assistant College Coach of the Year, Gary Calcagno, from Oklahoma State University. In this episode, Calcagno shares highlights from a more than 30-year strength and conditioning career and how being resourceful as a once aspiring coach prepared him for lasting professional success with NSCA Coaching and Sport Science Program Manager, Eric McMahon. The purpose of the program is to support, develop, and enhance the advancement of women in strength and conditioning and related professions. Mentor Qualifications: 3+ years of professional experience and NSCA certified. For persons in education/research, a Master’s degree or higher is also required. Mentee Qualifications: Open to learn, actively pursuing a career in strength and conditioning and/or related profession. The program will run for 6 months. There will be monthly large group workshops for all participants. There is an expectation mentors-mentees also conduct a 1-on-1 meeting each month. Applications are open for both female mentees and mentors.

The Tactical Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award is awarded to the coach whose influence within his or her assigned tactical (military, law enforcement, fire and rescue) setting exceeds that of peers. Achieving this influence can be the result of one or multiple coaching related accomplishments such as but not limited to measurable performance improvements or injury reduction, program creation, advancement through innovation, and other initiatives that enhance wellness, health, and performance at the local level.
