Our History

Founded in 1978, the NSCA has been serving its members by bridging the gap between science and application. Take an online tour of the NSCA’s legacy and learn about the Association’s impact on strength and conditioning as both a practice and profession.


The NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health, and fitness industries. Its initiatives are governed by a board of nine directors and managed by an executive director and staff to carry out business.

NSCA Performance Center

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Headquarters features a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art Performance Center designed specifically to train clients of all fitness levels—from youth and novice to tactical and elite. The NSCA Performance Center serves as a proving ground for the testing and application of scientific principles optimizing sport performance, and offering private, semi-private, and group training services for individuals and teams.
