The NSCA Foundation is adding a student member position to the Grant Committee to foster inclusivity and ensure the perspective of aspiring professionals is represented in the selection process. By engaging student members, we aim to gain valuable insights into their unique needs and aspirations, ultimately enhancing our scholarship program's impact on their academic and career journeys. Student Volunteer Position Description: Grant Committee
Position Title: Student Committee Member
Position Type: Volunteer

Position Overview:
The Student Committee Member is an integral part of the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Grant Committee. This position offers students an opportunity to gain valuable insights into scholarship administration, and committee operations while contributing their unique perspectives to enhance the committee's initiatives.

Term Duration:
One-year appointment from July 15 to July 14, serving as a representative of the student community and bringing forward student perspectives and concerns.


Core Responsibilities

  • Orientation & Preparation

    • Attend an orientation to understand the committee’s mission, structure, and expectations.
    • Review relevant documents, meeting schedules, and past committee activities.
  • Student Engagement

    • Collect student feedback through surveys and report findings to the committee.
    • Host bi-annual virtual roundtables or information sessions to engage with students and share updates.
  • Application & Policy Review

    • Provide feedback on scholarship applications, grading rubrics, and policies from a student perspective.
  • Committee Participation

    • Attend and actively contribute to quarterly virtual meetings and teleconferences.
    • Share insights, ask questions, and offer input on relevant topics, even as a non-voting member.
  • Event Involvement

    • Co-present the Data Blitz at the National Conference and the Foundation 101 session (if attending).
  • Reporting

    • Submit a 1-page end-of-term reflection summarizing your experience and contributions.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an NSCA Member
  • Currently enrolled as a student with an interest in strength and conditioning coaching or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present student perspectives effectively.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for learning, contributing, and being part of a professional committee.
  • Willingness to commit time and effort to the committee's activities and discussions.

*Individuals serving in this position are not eligible to apply for an NSCA Foundation Grant during their term of service and 1 year post service due to  the potential conflict of interest that may be associated with the position.
